On the second weekend of May this year, 297 teams arrived to run all the way from Zadov to Prague. The extremely rainy weather during the whole weekend tested not only the physical strength of almost 3,500 runners but also their determination to leave their comfort zone.
The torrential rain and low temperatures weren’t exactly the right conditions for an enjoyable run, but that’s what Vltava Run is about as well: overcoming your limits and finishing the race with a group of similarly excited runners. And that’s what everybody managed eventually, including the blind runners from the Nadace Leontinka foundation.
“We’d like to thank all the teams who – despite all this – managed to gather their strength and completed the 360 kilometres. True heroes indeed!” says Květa Látalová, one of the organizers.
The fastest twelve-member team was Winehouse.cz, with a total time of 23 hours, 12 minutes and 50 seconds. Among the nine-member teams, LOKAL BLOK team was the best and even managed to become the 3rd-fastest team ever. Among the women, the excellent girls from the Bitters team won, with a total time of 30 hours, 47 minutes and 2 seconds.
EPP – Pomáhej pohybem (Move to Help)
In recent years, Vltava Run has been helping as well. This year, twelve kids were chosen who you can read about here. And runners collected points for these kids with every kilometre they ran, and the ČEZ – Pomáhej pohybem (Move to Help) foundation converted these points into a check for 100,000 CZK.
You can find all the information about the run at www.vltavarun.cz, and there are lots of photos on Facebook and Instagram, marked with #vltavarun, shared by the runners themselves.
Congratulations to all the teams! We are looking forward to the future Vltava Runs.
