What shoes to wear for Vltava Run
Three or four legs, each of them across different terrain and in different conditions. How can you take on Vltava Run and conquer it?
The right shoes are a must if you want to avoid any surprises during your run, including blisters and tired legs.
We’ve put together a few suggestions for the best shoes, organized by surface type; check the description of the legs you’ll be running to get a clearer idea of what you need.
Asphalt roads Nike ZoomX Vaporfly Next% 2 – some of Nike’s fastest marathon shoes. Are you running Leg 6 from Stožec to Nová Pec or the final leg in Braník? These shoes are sure to help you break your PR and push your team ahead! Nike Air Zoom Tempo Next% – another pair of very fast shoes that will help you and your team reach the finish line. Just look at them! That’s what speed looks like! Make sure to put on Nike Tempos.
Paths in the woods Nike Pegasus Trail 3 – starting with the very fourth leg? Then these extremely comfy trail shoes need to be your first choice. Nike took the popular Pegasus shoe and tweaked it to hit the trail! These shoes are made (not only) for the fourth leg of Vltava Run! Nike Air Zoom Terra Kiger 7 – these will help you tackle demanding terrains. Fast, light, and breathable, with an amazing fit. Ideal for the leg from Štola Josef to Živohošť or from Rabyně to Slapy. No need to worry about a single pebble on your way!
Mixed surfaces Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 38 – these shoes are some of Nike’s most popular. Ideal for stretches with mixed asphalt surface, dirt roads, or paths in the woods. Its fine lug-pattern outsole will support you beyond the asphalt, and the shoes have excellent suspension to put more energy back into the kilometres to come. Nike ZoomX Invincible Run – ideal for asphalt and easy dirt roads, not the woods. They provide a lot of energy return on firm surfaces. Suitable mainly for longer stretches.
In any race, the shoes make the most difference and you definitely need a reliable pair. Don’t forget to pick the right socks as well, though, to avoid blisters and sores. Put on Nike Trail Running Crew for trail shoes; thanks to their design, they’ll never exert pressure on your Achilles tendon. For road shoes, go for thin and perfectly fitting pair of Nike Spark breathable socks. Have you chosen yet? I certainly hope you have! Don’t forget that you can always come to Top4Running at Náplavní 1 (opposite the Dancing House) where we’ll help you choose the right shoes even based on the legs you’re going to run or on the way your feet land.
Have a great summer full of running and see you in September in Zadov!
