In these hard times, values such as unity, selflessness and helping others have become more important than ever.
And these are the very principles of the Wings for Life World Run charity which starts on May 9, 2021, bringing runners “together” all over the world. For the 8 th time now, professional and amateur runners, handicapped athletes, and those who’d like to move to support a good thing get together to help the Wings for Life as they support research to treat spinal injuries. Since 2014, over 700 thousand people have joined this global charity race, run almost 7 million kilometres and collected over 30 million euro, which is nothing short of incredible.
Praha, Liberec and Frýdek-Místek are all running!
Just like in previous years, enthusiasts from the entire country will gather at the start line with the Catcher Car. You can run along your favourite route using App Run or together with friends at official events where you’ll meet the run’s ambassadors or even famous Czech athletes.
Previously, snowboarder and Olympic gold winner Eva Samková, canoeing world champion Martin Fuksa and skateboarder Maxim Habanec have participated in the race, and they all agree that this race helps people in need. And the funds raised go right where they’re needed most.
A beneficial race that breaks records
In recent years, we’ve seen incredible stories come out of the race. Aron Anderson, a handicapped athlete from Sweden, managed nearly 90 kilometres in his wheelchair, setting a record that will be very hard to beat. In 2019, after ten years spent in a wheelchair, David Mzee made it to the start line, walked 390 metres and embodied the very principles of the Wings for Life Foundation.
